Holiday Sipping- Spiked Apple Cider and Sweet Potato Pie Martinis!

Spiked Apple Cider
Make my spiced apple cider (http://www.brownbelle.com/holiday-spiced-sangria-what-to-make-for-thanksgiving/) a day or two ahead of time for maximum flavor. Spiced cider is like good meat, it tastes better the next day and even better the day after next! this go round I added a thumb sized piece of fresh ginger (sliced) and a pinch of salt. Be sure to give your spiced cider a taste. I find that better quality cider has good sweetness if it is a little too tart add some sugar or honey.
Fill your glass 1/4 full of spiced cider (about 2 shots)
1 shot henny
Top it off with a dry champaign (You can use ginger beer if you want to cut back on the alcohol)
Cut an orange peel with some pith, express the oils on your drink and spike with cloves if you feel like being fancy. If not garnish with an orange wheel.
This would make a great party punch!
 Sweet Potato Martini

Sweet Potato Pie Martini
This drink is strong! Use one shot of bourbon if you can’t hang and add a bit more cream.
1 shot spiced rum
2 shots bourbon
1 shot cream (you can use any non dairy substitute of your choice)
2 tbs sweet potato puree
1 shot maple syrup (Trader Joe’s has a bourbon barrel aged maple syrup that is to die for)
1/4 tsp pumpkin spice
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Use the maple syrup to wet the rim and dip the martini glass in graham cracker crumbs.
Add all the ingredients into cocktail shaker with ice and shake really well, until everything is combined and chilled.
Pour into a martini glass and enjoy!
